Mrs. Claus Barnholdt
Christina Margaretha Harmsen was born in Ostefeld, Germany in the year 1866, and at the age of twenty-two came to America to make her home.
In 1890, at Hancock, Nebraska, she was united in marriage to Claus Barnholdt, from which place they moved to Avoca, Iowa, remaining there for about four years, and then going to Walnut, Iowa, at which place they lived for about four years also. In 1900 they moved to Hartley where they lived until about six years past when they came to Melvin, Iowa.
Mrs. Barnholdt had always been a kind and loving mother, always doing for others when there was need for help. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, Claus Barnholdt, three daughters, Emma and Lillian of Melvin, Mrs. G.A. Lee of Slayton, Minn., and two sons, Harold and Arthur, also of Melvin.
The funeral services were held January 27 at the Lutheran church and she was laid to rest in the Pleasant View cemetery at Hartley, Iowa.
