Again the uncertainty of life has been realized by the community in the passing away of Emina Reinke.

Emma Alma Reinke, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Reinke, was born August 30, 1891 near Sibley, Iowa. In the spring of 1892, she moved with her parents to O'Brien County near Hartley, and there her childhood was spent. In 1904, the family moved to Hartley, where she was educated in the Public Schools, graduating from the High School in 1911. For about three years she taught in the rural schools of O'Brien and Clay Counties.

In the fall of 1914, she entered the Iowa. State Teachers College at Cedar Falls, to take up a course in music, specializing in voice, but to her great disappointment, her health failed her in the form of a nervous break-down, which caused her to discontinue her studies. After regaining her health she had planned to again enter college sometime, but had not reached definite plans. However, her time was well spent in the community, where her influence will be greatly missed, and especially in the Methodist Church, of which she was a member, and where she held her post faithfully in the choir. She was never happier than when trying to do good, either in the various kinds of church work or in duties in the home. Seeing others happy was her happiness.

On Tuesday, November 26th, she took sick with LaGrippe which, was followed by pneumonia and later pleurisy. The best of medical care was given her and loving hands worked unceasingly in the intense effort to to save her life but God, whose work spells perfection, planned otherwise—and Emma passed on peacefully to the Great Beyond on December 7, 1918. While she fought bravely, for life, desiring of course to stay here, yet she didn't lose sight of the fact that God had planned her days and that if He wanted her, she was ready.

Emma was reared in a true Christian home, and she lived the Christian life to the best of her ability, so that she might be ready to meet God at any time. During her, ten days illness, she found much comfort in communion with the Savior.

Besides her parents, she leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters Mrs. Roy Staines and Lydia, both of this place, and four brothers: George of Geneva, Iowa, Henry of this place, Dr. D.J. of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Louis who joined the service of his country in France. Two brothers preceded her in death a number of years ago. She leaves also a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at the Reinke home in Hartley, Mondayat 1:30 P. M.j Rev.-Bassett and Rev. Siewert in charge, assisted by Rev. Fischer. The choir of which Emma was a member sang appropriate pieces. Interment was made in Pleasant View Cemetery.

A precious one from us is gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has revealed,
The boon His love had given,"
And though the body's resting here,
Her soul is safe in Heaven.
