Lewis Faye Putnam was born in Grant Township, O'Brien County, Ia. October 9, 1900. He spent his childhood days on the farm, coming to Hartley. With his parents when he was 14 years of age. He entered the 6th grade, at school and at the time of his death was a member of the junior Class in the High School.
Ha was taken seriously ill Monday night, December 2nd, with pleurisy, which rapidly developed into plural pneumonia and after several days of great suffering was called home Friday morning, December 6th at about 5 o'clock.

He had united with the Methodist Church at the age of 15 and remained a consistent member. Faye was a favorite wiih all who knew him and his passing away leaves a place in his home and in the community that can never be filled.

He leaves his mother and father and one brother, Hobart, who arrived home from Camp Dodge the evening before his death, besides many relatives and friends.

The funeral was conducted Sunday afternoon at the home, by Rev. Bassett assisted by Rev. Siewert. By special request, Mrs. Janson and Miss Oma Easthouse sang "Some Sweet Day."
