Monday, July 24th, 1916 at 12:10 a. m. Mrs. Nettie Stewart passed away at the Hand hospital in this city, following a very critical operation which was performed the previous Thursday afternoon by Dr. Rouse of Sioux City.

The announcement of the death of this noble woman cast a shroud of sorrow over this entire community for she was one of those whose daily life appeals to all those with whom they come in contact. She gained her friends from all classes and ages and as time wore on their friendship strengthened. If there were sorrow in the homes of her friends her cheerfulness and aid were ever present, if there were work in her cherished home, in the church or with her friends she was present with a willing hand. She will be missed by the entire community and by all who knew her, but most strongly in the home where she so cheerfully performed the duties of mother.

Though the vacant place in the world's work which she so fully fitted can never be filled, yet the noble influence of her pure womanly life will remain to bless the home and the friends who mourn her loss. Her life was full of kindness and deeds of love of which some of the world will never know, but the reward above awaits, for Christ sees all here below.

All that money and skill could do was done by her children and friends but it was to be that she harken to the call of a Higher Power and is at rest. We do not know what death is, but we believe with the poet whose lines read: "What life is for the living, So death is for the dead."

A quiet funeral service was held at the home at 2 p. m. Wednesday, July 26, Rev . Nissen of Milford officiating in his usual impressive manner and the 0.E.S. ladies of this city held short services.

Mrs. Stewart at the time of her passing away was Worthy Matron of the local order O. E. S., a member of the W . R. C. aid of the Tuesday Club and in all of these circles she will be sadly missed. The ladies of the W . R. C. assisted by Rev. Nissen held services at the grave and all that was mortal of this noble mother was laid to rest in Pleasant View Cemetery beside her husband, who passed, away some years ago.

There are left to mourn her loss, four sisters, Mrs. J. S. Messer, of this city, Mrs. Leo McDaniel and Mrs. Wm. Geisenhof of Carroll, Illinois, and Mrs. L. F. Faro, of Chicago, all of whom were present at the funeral with the exception o f Mrs. Messer of this city who was ill in bed, two daughters, Mrs. Harry Broders and Miss Dorothy, of this city and Howard Stewart of Webb.

"Passing out of the shadow
Into purer light
Sleeping behind the curtains,
Getting a dearer sight.
Passing out of the shadow
Into eternal day,
Why do they call this dying,
This sweet going away?"
