Funeral services for Ben H. Pauls were held Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church. Mr. Pauls was born in Garding, Germany, in 1891, and died March 3, 1929, at the home of his wife's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Hennings.

He came to America in 1911 and soon after spent three years in Hartley following in the trade of blacksmith which he learned in Germany. He was married to Mrs. Viola Popp and they made their home in Melvin.

He was afflicted with tumors of the brain and underwent three operations at Rochester, but gradually grew weaker and passed away Sunday afternoon.
