Edward Bahde was born in Schoenkamp, Holstein, Germany, on March 30, 1866. In 1879 he moved with his parents to Scott county, Iowa, and in 1888 accompanied his parents to O'Brien County, Iowa, where he has lived ever since.
In 1899 on the 22nd of January, he was married to Augusta Wittrock of Germantown, Iowa. Since 1896 he worked eighty acres of land in Center township and five years ago he moved to Hartley. He was the father of five children, three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Emma Raney, Walter, Elsie Vern and Hilda who are left to mourn his death. He also leaves three grandchildren, his aged father, Jochum Bahde of Hartley; three brothers, Gush Bahde of Hartley, Adolph Bahde of Calumet and August Bahde of Denver, Colorado; his sister, Mrs. J.H. Segelke of Brush, Colorado.
Mr. Bahde died March 20, 1925 at the age of 58 years, 11 months and 20 days. His wife preceded him in death a little over a year ago - February, 1924.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Lutheran church and burial was made by the side of his wife in Pleasant View Cemetery.
Those in attendance from out of town were: Mr. Adolph Bahde of Calument, Messrs. and Mesdames Alber Wittrock and August Wittrock of Pipestone, Minnesota; Mra. and Mrs. Emil Wittrock of Iona, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wittrock and daughter Edna, Mrs. Aug. Wittrock Sr., Mrs. Fred Fiddelke and son and Mr. and Mrs. Strampe, all of Germantown, Iowa, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brinkert of Primghar, Iowa.
