Oscar Douma, son of Oscar and Jennie Douma, was born near Alton, Ia. On September 10, 1916. At an early age he moved with his parents to a farm south of Sheldon where he attended school and later farmed.

On September 10, 1941, Oscar was united in marriage to Cornelia Veen of Sheldon, IA After their marriage they farmed near Sheldon until 1957 when they moved to a farm near Sanborn, Iowa. In 1972 they moved to Sanborn, Iowa where he resided until the time of his death at the Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital at Primghar, IA. on Sept. 24, 1977 at the age of 61 years and 14 days.

He is survived by his wife, Cornelia; three sons: Bradley, Rodney and Robert; three grandsons and three granddaughters, all of Sanborn, IA; and six sisters: Mrs. Albert (Edith) Veldboom of Sanborn, Mrs. Peter (Sadie) Van Oort, Mrs. Ralph (Minnie) Vanden Brink, Mrs. Ben (Nellie) Reeves, Mrs. Carl (Esther) Kuiper and Mrs. Adrian (Julia) Hoogh, all of Sheldon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Dawn Marie Douma; one brother, Jake; and two sisters: Hattie Kleinwolterink and Mrs. Cornie (Jeannette) De Hoogh.

He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sanborn, IA.

Casket bearers were Neil Beyer, Roger Van Beek, Eugene Elgersma, Jake Dekker, Kenneth Vander Velde, and Merle Vander Woude. A men's quartet, Arthur Bosch,
Kenneth Kuyper, Ed Donkersloot and James Ver Mulm sang "Near to the Heart of God" Soloist, Denise Hicks sang, "He Touched Me" . Mrs. Neil Beyer was organist.

Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
