Henry Christ Hibbing (1888-1977)

Henry C. (Christ) Hibbing passed away at the Wide View Nursing Home on February 25, 1977 after a month illness, at the age of 99 years, 2 months, and 19 days.

He was born on December 6, 1888, on a farm west of Paullina. His parents were Henry Hibbing and Rebecca (Alhusen) Hibbing. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in St. John Lutheran Church, Germantown. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran, Paullina.

He lived all his life in O'Brien County. As a young man he worked as a hired man and started farming for himself when he and Anna Green were married on February 25, 1913, and to this union, seven children were born. After retirement they moved to Paullina and Anna passed away in 1947.

In 1951 he married Rose Schultz. She passed away suddenly in 1959.

On November 28, 1962, Henry and Marie Paulsen were married and resided in Paullina these past fourteen years. He was preceded in death by four children.

Left to cherish his memory are Marie, his widow; 3 children, Alvin and Eleanor Hibbing of Elgin, Illinois, Wilber Hibbing of Lemars, Elsie and Clarence Johannsen of Primghar, Iowa; 9 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Ernest of Paullina, Edward of Long Beach, California, Rose Kruse of Long Beach, California.

Funeral services were held at Zion Lutheran Church, Paullina, on March 1 with Rev. Donald L. Johnson in charge. The committal service was at Prairie View Cemetery, near Paullina.
