Rufe Welch passed away November 30 at the Community Memorial Hospital at Sheldon after suffering a heart attack.
Rufe Marvin Welch, son of Richard and Ola Welch, was born in the state of Missouri on June 15, 1900. He lived his youth and attended school in Missouri. As a young man he came to Iowa and settled in O'Brien County.
He was united in marriage to Lucy Egdorf of Archer, Iowa on February S, 1928, at Primghar, Iowa. After their marriage they continued to live in O'Brien
County. They moved to Sanborn in 1941. He was engaged in farming most of his life until the time of his, retirement.He passed away at the Sheldon Community Memorial Hospial on Nov 30, 1967, after suffering a heart attack.
He is survived by his mother, Ola Wood of Salem, Missouri; his wife, Lucy of Sanborn, one son, Kenneth Richard Welch of St. Louis, Mo.; one daughter, Darlene, Mrs. Wayne Saunders of Harris; six grandchildren; two brothers, Rammie Welch of Granite City, Illinois, Ralph Welch of Granite City, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Chesley Wood of St. Louis, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his father, two brothers and one sister. One grandson, Kevin came to live with them in 1956.
Services were held Saturday, December 2, 1967 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sanborn Funeral Home. Rev. John Riebhoff, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiated. Mrs. William Djmmett and Mrs. Glenn Chrisman Jr. sang "Abide With Me" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Miss Gladys Barber. Casketbearers were Jack Riser, Peter Postma, Albert Van Engen, Oscar Olson, Burton Cleveland and Walter Egdorf. Burial was in Roseland Cemetery with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
