Mrs. Maria Meyer, nee Koellmoos [sic], wife of Herman Frederick Meyer of Remsen, died on Tuesday, January 30 at 7:30 a.m. of inflammation of the bowels. Deceased was born in the Province of Hanover, Germany, in 1842.

She came to this country in 1867 and in the same year became the wife of Herman F. Meyer who survives her. In 1873 they came to Germantown, O’Brien County, Iowa and settled on a farm. In March 1905 they retired from the farm to make their future home in Remsen, having saved sufficient means to keep them in plenty and luxury if they had chosen.

Their union was blessed with nine children of whom but three sons survive.
