Julie Kaye Klaahsen, the daughter of Glen and Sylvia (Pauling) Proehl was born December 1, 1952 in Primghar, Iowa. She attended grade school in Archer and graduated from Paullina High School in 1971. She then attended the Spencer School of Business.
On October 27, 1972, she was united in marriage to Donald Dale Klaahsen in Vallejo, California. The couple moved to Primghar after Don’s retirement from the Navy. Julie had been employed at the O’Brien County Courthouse working in the Recorder’s office for over 28 years.
Don preceded Julie in death on July 15, 2015. Julie remained in Primghar until her passing on Thursday, November 21, 2019 reaching the age of 66 years, 11 months and 20 days.
Julie was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Primghar. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, going to the Lakes, boating, gardening, concerts, canning, sewing and crafts. She was a long member of the Primghar Jaycees and also served on the Primghar Community Playhouse Board. She also volunteered for Love Inc.Julie leaves to cherish her memory her children and their spouses, Ryan and Brandie Klaahsen and a grandson, Chance Klaahsen; of Seabeck, Washington and Jaime and Kevin Kelleher of Primghar; Kevin’s children: Miranda, Bryce (Lindsey) Kelleher and Brytton (Shelby) Kelleher and their children; siblings, Shirley and Ken Buck, Glenda and Randy Fletcher, Larry and Jeanette Proehl, John and Jan Proehl and Mark and Jean Proehl; mother-in-law, Dottie Klaahsen; sisters-in-law, Kathleen Burinskas and Wanda McFarland; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Julies was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; parents-in-law, Harland and Chyrl Klaahsen; and a sister-in-law, Marlene Klaahsen Childs.
