PAULLINA, Iowa -- Margaret Marie Bjork, 90, of Marcus, Iowa, formerly of Paullina, passed away Thursday, May 18, 2006, at Heartland Care Center in Marcus.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus, with the Rev. Eugene Murray officiating. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with the family present after 6:30 p.m. and a Scripture wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina.
Margaret Marie Bjork, the daughter of John and Mae (Carey) Sand, was born was born Feb. 16, 1916, on a farm northeast of Marcus. She received her education in school at Marcus.
On Sept. 17, 1936, she was united in marriage to Orville Bjork in South Sioux City. After their marriage, the couple moved to California for a couple of years before returning to Iowa and to Paullina, where they farmed south of Paullina for many years. In January of 1965, they moved to Denver, Colo., where Margaret worked as a cashier in a grocery store and later at a gas station. Orville preceded her in death in January of 1977 in Colorado. Margaret remained in the Denver area before returning to Paullina in 1986. She moved to the Paullina Care Center in 1999 and later to the Heartland Care Center in 2003.
She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, bowling and spending special times with her family and friends.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her children, Judy and her husband, Bernie Paulsen of Paullina, Gary and his wife, Naomi Bjork of Tulsa, Okla., Joann and her husband, Dave Tesch of Paullina and Janet and her husband, Keith Koenig of Thornton, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bonnie Smith and Bette Horstman, both of Marcus and Mary Bunkers of Granville, Iowa; as well as other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four brothers, Merle, Ray, Bob and Paul and a sister, Evelyn.
