Donald A. Brown, the son of Alex and Jane Young Brown, was born September 4, 1906, at Marcus, Iowa. He came to the Paullina area as a young man with his family in 1913. He attended Paullina schools and graduated from Paullina High School in 1926. On March 14, 1933, he was united in marriage to Ruth Nott. After their marriage, the couple farmed in the Paullina area for many years until his retirement in 1969. Ruth preceded him in death on November 28, 1966 in Paullina.

Donald continued to make his home in the Paullina area until passing away on Sunday, August 28, 1983, reaching the age of 76 years, 11 months and 24 days.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Paullina, the Rising Star Masonic Lodge of Primghar, Sioux City Consistory and the Abu-Bekr Shrine of Sioux City. Donald is survived by two sons, D. Edward Brown of Paullina and Paul L. Brown of Kenilworth, Illinois, 6 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Frank (Madge) Gabby of Paullina and one brother, William E. Brown of Kingsley, Iowa, also a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his parents, three brothers and one sister.

Services for Donald A Brown were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 1983, at the First Presbyterian Church at Paullina, Iowa, with the Rev. James Ransom officiating. Pallbearers were Steve Ebel, Arnie Charlton, Clarence Rabe, Weber Clayton, Junior Lemke and Dick Halstrom. "How Great Thou Art" was sung by the congregation with Mrs. Kay Grosvenor at the organ. The final resting place is at the Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa. The arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
