Carol Pitts, 72, son of Mrs. Orla Pitts of Prairie View, died Saturday at Pleasant Hill, Iowa, after suffereing an apparent heart attack. He was there visiting his son during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Services were held Wednesday in South Sioux City with the Rev. James E. Clarke, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City, officiating, with burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery [sic Pleasant View] at Hartley, Iowa.
Mr. Pitts was born on January 31, 1912 at Sanborn, Iowa. He married Lois B. Nonneman on August 15, 1933 at Sanborn. He was a switchman for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad for 14 years before moving to Sioux City where he owned and operatied Lois' Cafe in Jackson since 1968. Mrs.. Pitts died in 1967 at Jackson.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Brill of Ponca, Nebraska; two sons, Jim of Pleasant Hill and Barry of Ontario, California; his mother, Mrs. Orla [Potter]Pitts, two sisters, Mrs. Blythe Bogart of Hawkeye and Mrs. Vi Glenn of San Francisco; three brothers, Lyndon of Winslow, Illinois, Lloyd of Spooner, Wisc. and Gail of Bellflower, Claifornia and 11 grandchildren.
