Funeral services for Catherine Rahbusch were held at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Sutherland, Iowa, on Saturday, September 12, 1992, at 10:30 a.m. Reverend Leroy Reimer officiated. The casket bearers were Richard Mathern, Marty Rahbusch, Terry Alberts, Ron Lenhart, Ken Wede, and Tom Rahbusch. Honorary casket attendants were Rick Alberts, Steve Mathern, Dan Barrs, Mark Rahbusch, Tim Alberts, Eugene Mathern, Rod Reinfeld, Pete Rahbusch and Ryan Rahbusch. Ushers were Eddie Jebsen and John Engelke. Committal service was held at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa under the direction of the Baumgarten Funeral Home.

Catherine Christine Rahbusch, the daughter of Peter and Wiebke Hansen, was born January 6, 1904 at Krau, in Treia, Schleswig, Germany. She was educated in Germany and united in marriage to Wilhelm Rahbusch on July 16, 1926. She and her husband and two daughters came to the United States to the Sutherland area to begin farming in 1928. They farmed for others in Sutherland and Granville until starting for themselves in the 1930s. They became the parents of twelve children.

She was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and was devoted to her family and enjoyed flowers, gardening and hand work. For the last twelve years she had been a resident of Millie's Rest Home in Sutherland.

She passed away there on September 10, 1992, at the age of 88. Preceding her in death were her parents; an infant daughter, Magdalena; her husband in 1975; a son, William Jr. and a daughter, Ella Alberts; two sons-in-law, Don Lenhart and Henry Barrs; six grandchildren; Robert Rahbusch, Tamara Alberts, Jann Rahbusch, Jeffrey Rahbusch, Dennis Wede and Sharon Rahbusch Decker and an infant great-granddaughter.

Left to cherish her memory are her children and their spouses, Christine and Paul Mathern of Gaza, Marianne Lenhart of Sutherland, Marga Wede of Cherokee, Betty Reinfeld of Napa, California, John and Vernice Rahbusch, Tom and Connie Rahbusch, all of Sutherland and Ruth Durant of Ontario, California; a daughter-in-law, Betty Rahbusch Winter of Buffalo Center; and a son-in-law, LaVerne Alberts of Cherokee; thirty-five grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
