Arthur Oscar Pfitzenmaier, the son of John and Dora Jane Scott Pfitzenmaier, was born September 12, 1899, in O'Brien County, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in O'Brien County, where he received his
early education in country schools.

Arthur married Loena Powell on December 15, 1920, in Spencer. Throughout most of their marriage they lived in the Primghar area, where Arthur farmed until retiring in 1964. At that time they moved to Hartley.

Loena died in 1968. Arthur married Nana Hocking on June 3, 1976. She passed away on October 18, 1980.

Arthur was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. He had also been a member of the Senior Citizens Club in Hartley, where he served as president for a number of years.

Mr. Pfitzenmaier passed away at the Mann Memorial Wing in Hartley on November 30, 1995, at the age of 96.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Loena and his wife Nana; one sister Zola; and one great-grandchild.

Arthur is survived by four daughters and their husbands: Jean and Edwin Knight of Clovis, Minnesota, June and Ronald Hubbard of Bigelow,
Minnesota, Shirley and Wayne Peters of Everly, and Bonnie and Fred Schoelerman of Hartley; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services in memory of Arthur Oscar Pfitzenmaier were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 2, 1995, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley. Rev. John Schauer officiated. Casket bearers were Brian Nielsen, Brent Nielsen, Bradley Nielsen, Gaylen Hubbard, Shaun Hubbard, Eric Hubbard, David Schoelerman and Roger Schoelerman. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Warner-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
