George Hurley (1928-1997)

George Hurley, the son of George and Viola Hurley, was born January 7, 1926, in Davenport, Iowa. He received his education and later graduated from Jessup High School.

On November 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Doris Otto in Pierce, Nebraska. After their marriage, the couple lived in various communities until coming to Paullina. Iowa, in 1956. George was employed in the telephone business for over 40 years with 30 years being in Paullina. He retired from Centel in December of 1986. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina.

He passed away on Monday, July 21. 1997, at the Orange City Hospital in Orange City. Iowa,reaching the age of 71 years. 6 months and 14 days.

George is survived by his wife, Doris Hurley of Paullina; his children: Treva and her husband, Larry Bonnema of Plattsmouth, Nebraska, Kathari Jager of Sioux City, Iowa, and Garth and his wife, Candy Hurley of Paullina, Iowa; also seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Family services for George Hurley were held on Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Stephen Kamprath officiating. The casket bearers were Garth Hurley, Jeremy Verschoor, Austin Jager, Larry Bonnema, Scott Benson, and Patrick Hurley.

Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery at Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
