Willus Donald Ruisch, son of John W. and Johanna Smits Ruisch, was born at Orange City, Iowa on April 12, 1927. He spent his youth and attended rural school in the Maurice, Iowa vicinity.
On October 1, 1947, he was united in marriage to Christina Wynja at Sioux Center, Iowa. Following their marriage they resided at Maurice until moving to Sanborn in 1959. Upon moving there he was employed as a feed salesman. His special interests included working with clocks and wood. He was a member of the First Reformed Church at Sanborn and the Earl T. Conaway Post #318 American Legion.
He passed away on March 11, 1985 at the Veterans Hospital at Sioux Falls, S.D. at the age of 57 years, 10 months and 29 days.
He is survived by his wife, Christina, of Sanborn, six children: John of Virginia Beach, Va., Mrs. Nelson (Dianne) Mc-Innis of Sanborn, Dennis of Sioux City, Mrs. David (Wanda) Vender Plaats of Round Rock, Tex., Mrs. Wm. (Carla) Hesebeck of Sheldon and Jenean of Sanborn; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Howard of Maurice, Ia. and Eugene of Ireton, Ia. and one sister, Mrs. Wm. (Berdena) Bleeker of Maurice.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held March 14 at the First Reformed Church of Sanborn with Rev. Gerald Osland officiating. Casket bearers were Hessel Dykstra, Merle Alberta, Ray Schnurr, Jr., Roy Brown, Wayne Remme and Ted Mam. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Ait Bosch and Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Van Engen sang "One Day at a Time" and "To God Be the Glory." The congregation sang, "Blest Be the Tie That Binds." Mrs. Sylvia Beyer was organist.
Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with military rites by Earl T. Conaway Post #318 American Legion, Sanborn in charge. Sanborn Funeral Home service was in charge of the service.
