Joanne Faye (Liedtke) Lopez, the daughter of Otto and Tressa (Feenstra) Liedtke was born on September 26, 1937, in Melvin, Iowa. She lived her youth in the Melvin and Hartley area and graduated from the Hartley High School in 1956 She went on to further her education at Metropoli­tan State College in Colorado earning a Bachelor's Degree in Human Services.

She was united in marriage to Delfin Lopez on July 15, 1975 in Den­ver, Colorado Joanne and Del moved from Denver to Anchorage, Alaska in 1979, and later to Soldotna, Alaska. While living in Alaska she was the Director at the Lee Shores Women's Resource & Crisis Center in Kenai, Alaska for seven years. Following her job in Kenai, Joanne was appointed by the Governor of Alaska to be the Director of Alaska Council on Do­mestic Violence and Sexual Assault. She also served in a wide range of Social Service positions throughout her lifetime.

Joanne and Del retired in 1997 and moved to Arizona, later they moved to Hartley, Iowa. In 2008 the couple moved to the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa, where Joanne passed away on Monday, January 21, 2013 at the age of 75 years, 3 months and 29 days Joanne was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ of Hartley, where she served on the Pastor-Parish Committee While living in Har­tley, she was also an active member of the Hartley Lions Club.

Joanne enjoyed sewing, gardening, painting ceramics, fishing, decorating her home, jogging, and dearly loved all of her pets.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Del of Marshalltown, Iowa, children of Gary Steinbeck: Christine Steinbeck of Jeanncttc, Penn­sylvania, Joni (Joe) Babka of Anchorage, Alaska, Kelly Steinbeck (Christen Peroutka) of Hartley, Brett (Lynn) Steinbeck of Aurora, Illinois; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brother Larry (Sylvia) Liedtke of Ridgecrest, California, sister Karen (Gene) Moffet of Burbank, California, other relatives and friends.

Joanne was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Rose Reed.

A memorial service for Joanne F Lopez was held on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Har­tley, Iowa. Rev Jeff Filkins officiated. Honorary pallbearers (grandchildren) included Camille O'neil, Michael DcLcllis, Autumn Stankay, Tressa Zelczak, Ashley Iwen and Anastasia Steinbeck, and (great-grandchildren) Logan O'neil, Livia O'neil and Evelyn Iwen. Inurnment will be at Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Sanborn-Hartley Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements .

It appears that shortly after her husband's death, Joanne's remains were moved to Fort Logan National Cemetery where Del was laid to rest. She was re-inurned there on Sep 14, 2015, according to cemetery records.
