Funeral services for Almond Briggie were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 1992, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Leroy Riemer officiating. The pallbearers were Orval Hoick, Earl Ewoldt, Edward Hattermann, Burnell Koehlmoos, Alvin Hattermann and Ralph Aufdenkamp. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa, under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home of Paullina.
OBITUARY
Almond Briggie was born November 19, 1910, on a farm near Paullina. He was the son of Fred Briggie and Emma Leverenz Briggie. He grew up and attended school in the Paullina area.On March 25, 1943, he was united in marriage to Florine Mutschler in Oakland, California. After their marriage, the couple returned to Paullina. Almond did construction work during the first years of his married life and in 1953 began his employment with Northern Natural Gas Co. In 1967, he was transferred to Willmar, Minnesota, and worked there until his retirement in 1974. He and his wife then moved back to Paullina where he has resided until his death on November 25,1992.
He was baptized in the Lutheran Faith on December 25, 1910, and was confirmed on May 25, 1924, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, where he was a lifetime member.
Survivors include his wife, Florine; two daughters and their husbands: Judy and Jim Denato of Ames, Iowa and Edie and Rod Samuelson of Johnston, Iowa; three granddaughters: [redacted]; one brother, Frank; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Bruen Hattermann, Sr., Raymond Hattermann, and Irvin Briggie.
