Esther Stella (Tifft) Long, daughter of Mary and Scott Tifft, pioneer Sanborn residents, was born March 25, 1893, at Sanborn, Iowa, and passed away on November 8, 1935, being 42 years, 8 months, and 13 days. She grew to womanhood here. On April 9, 1918, she was united in marriage to Ira Long of Sanborn, the ceremony being performed in Sibley. The continued to residde in Sanborn and practically all of Mrs. Long's life was spent here.
For the last two or three years Mrs. Long has been in poor health. It is thought that this, together with financial and other worries, was responsible for her untimely death.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Ira Long and her daughter, Florence, her aged father, Scott Tifft, and three brothers, Claude, Roy and Rafe Tifft of Sanborn, Iowa, besides many neighbors and friends.
For several years she has been associated with the Methodist Episcopal church.
If we could see beyond today,
As God can see;
if all the coulds should roll away
The shadows flee
O'er present griefs we would not fret,
Each sorry we would soon forget
For many joys are waiting yet
For you and me.Sanborn (Iowa) Pioneer, 14 Nov 1935, pp 1, 6
