CHRIS LINDER AND ALVIN HILKER DIE OF PNEUMONIA
BOTH BOYS ARE SOLDIERS OVERSEAS
Both Left Here Last July for Camp Gordon and Landed in England About October FirstMore homes in this community have been made desolate this week. More brave boys have yielded their lives for the cause of humanity and Paullina and vicinity are mourning again with the grief-stricken families, because the sons who went out in all the strength of manhood are dead and will return no more.

CHRIS LINDERMrs. Chris Linder received a message Sunday saying that her husband had died on October 10th with bronchial pneumonia. The news came as a great shock to the young wife and she lies prostrated at the home of her mother, Mrs. Anna Harris. Only last winter, on December 12th, Miss Vera Harris and Chris Linder were married and they went to farming on the young man's mother's farm at Sutherland where they remained until Mr. Linder was called into the service of his country. He went with the boys in July to Camp Gordon, Georgia, and later was transferred to Camp Merritt and sailed for France on September 18th.
He arrived safely in England on September 30th and the wife received notification of his arrival. But it has been learned that he was sick when he landed and he died just ten days later of bronchial pneumonia. He was sick while at Camp Gordon and was in the hospital for a while, so it is presumed that he had not entirely recovered his health when pneumonia developed and resulted in his death.
Mr. Linder was the son of Mrs. Jacob Priegnitz, of this city, who is now living on the farm since the departure of her son He was born on Nov. 14, 1892, and would therefore have been twenty-six years of age had he lived another month.
