Mary Etta Wheeler, was born, Feb. 17, 1834, in Erie county, Penn. and died at her home in Sanborn, Ia. Oct. 29, 1909, after a lingering illness.

She was married Oct. 4, 1863, to Chas. H. Moon, at Peoria, Ill. To this union, were born four children: Anna, George, Sadie and Irving, two of these, Sadie and George, preceded her to the spirit world. The two surviving children were present at her bedside, when death claimed her.

In 1871 Mr. and Mrs. Moon came to O'Brien county, when they homesteaded near Sanborn, residing here for a few years, after which they again returned to Peoria, Ill. where they remained until 1885 at which time they returned to Sanborn, where they lived for twenty-four consecutive years.

Mrs. Moon was a consistent, christian woman. At the age of 17 years she united with the Methodist church, and remained a faithful member until her demise.

For nearly three years she had been a great sufferer, but her ill health, was always borne uncomplainingly. Her home was her shrine and her devotion to her husband and children, the keynote of her existence. She is survived by an aged hushand, a son and daughter, and a large circle of friends who mourn her death.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church, Sunday afternoon, at three o'clock. Rev. Burress speaking words of comfort. A mixed chorus, consisting of Mesdames Daly, Foote and Kings, and E. A. Mayne and T. T. Shaffner, rendered appropriate music, accompanied by Miss Sturdevant. The obsequies were closed by the W. R. C. of which order the deceased was a charter member, and it was her request, that the beautiful burial service should be used in consigning her body.to its final resting place, which was Roseland cemetery. The bearers were members of Kenyon Post, and were as follows, R. M. Boyd, W. F. Mills, M. C Wilkins, H. Vanderlip, Chas. Cechman ahd H. Pruyn.
