Albert Block services will be Friday

Funeral services for Albert Block will be held Friday, Dec. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at the Sanborn Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the Sanborn Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Mr. Block passed away Saturday, Nov. 27 at Ingleside, Illinois at the age of 69. He was a former Sanborn resident. He was a brother of Mrs. Marlin Maranell of Sanborn and Mrs. George Dolphin of Melvin. A complete obituary will be printed at a later date.

ALBERT BLOCK 1913 — 1982

Albert Block, son of Ernst and Emma Block, was born in Sanborn, Iowa on November 25, 1913. He lived his youth, attended school and grew to young manhood in this vicinity.

He was united in marriage to Mabel Miller on January 8, 1935. After their marriage they lived in Sanborn, Iowa, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Chicago, Illinois where Albert was employed as a trainmaster for the Milwaukee Railroad. After 38 years of service he retired in 1978 and made his home in Fox Lake, Illinois. He passed away there on November 27,1962 at the age of 69 years and two days.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel, of Fox Lake, Illinois; two sons, Ernest of Kansas City, Mo. and Stanley of Mason City, Ia.; one daughter, Leisa Hanson of Antioch, Ill.; four granddaughters, Brenda, Roberta, Vicki and Pamela; two brothers, Herman of Rock Valley and Robert of Mason City, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Marlin (Amy) Maranell of Sanborn, Iowa and Mrs. George (Edna) Dolphin of Melvin, Iowa and Florence Vander Weil of Sioux City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services were held December 3 at the Sanborn Funeral Home with Rev. Frederick Kempfert, officiating. Casket bearers were Donald Knowlton, Robert Grenewald, Brad Beckman, Kenneth Snyder, Gene Beckman and Richard Kruger. Jackie Van Engen and Harriet Van Veldhuizen sang "In the Garden" and "Old Rugged Cross" accompanied by Lucille Van Veldhuizen. Interment was in Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge.
