Paul Arnold Zinn (1899-1978)

Paul Arnold Julius Zinn, the son of Julius and Ida Hoffman Zinn, was born September 20, 1899 in Grant Township near Hartley, Iowa. He was baptized October 22, 1899 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ceneter Township and confirmed April 5, 1914 in the same church.

He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Kruger at the home of the bride's parents in Sheldon, Iowa on Feb 16, 1921

They farmed in the Hartley area until retiring and moving into town in 1957. He was a member of Saint Paul's Lutheran Church of Hartley and served on the committee to build the present educational unit.

He passed away at St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City on Marcy 16, 1978 at the age of 78. Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, and two sisters.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife; a brother, Albert, of Hartley; two sisters, Selma Hein and Mrs. John (Sadie) Meiske, both of Hartley; one brother in law and his wife, Alfred and Myrtle Kruger of Sheldon; three sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Kruger of Hartley, Vernie Kruger of Lelmme and Ethel Kruger of Ames; as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Services in memory of Paul Zinn were held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at Hartley on Saturday afternoon, March 18. Rev. Francis Mennenga officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View cemetery at Hartley under the direction of the Baumgarten Funeral Home.
