John Puhrman, Sr. died Wednesday morning, January 7th, at 10:30 o'clock at the Cherokee Hospital. Mr. Puhrman has been in poor health for several years. The past year his decline was more rapid. The immediate cause of his death was a hemmorage of the brain. The end was very quiet and free from pain or suffering.

The death of Mr. Puhrman markes the pasing of another of the early settlers of this community. He came to this community from Illinois in 1881 and located on a farm, where he resided until he moved to Paullina with wife in 1905. Since that date he continued his residence here until his death.

The deceased was one of those even tempered men who paid close attention to his own affairs and always had a helping hand and a word of good cheer for his friends and neighbors. In the years of his residence here, he gained the confidence and respect of all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon after a brief service at the home. The remains will be taken at _ o'clock to the Zion Lutheran church, where services will be held. Rev. A.H. Semmann of that church officiating. Interment will be at Prairie View cemetery.
