Mrs. H.P. Hansen Dies at Calumet

Mary Anna Rehder, daughter of Mr. Peter Rehder and Anna nee Kammerer, was born in Tama County, Iowa on April 10, 1877. At the age of 8 years, she accompanied her folks to O'Brien county where they made their home on a farm near Calumet.

On January 29, 1893, her life was dedicated to the Lord in Holy Baptism and on February 25 of the same year, she renewed her baptismal covenant through the rite of confirmation, being among the fist to be baptized and confirmed in the history of Zion Church of Calumet.

On December 12, 1899, she was united in marriage with Mr. Hans P. Hansen in Zion Church of Calumet. To this happy union 11 children were born: Gerhart, Richard, Rudolph, Herman, Clara, Roy, Eda, Dora, Albert, Ella, and Anna, 7 of whom preceded their mother in death.

The Hansens made their home on a farm near Paullina where they made many friends and had become respected as a true Christian family. On February 23, 1938, they moved to Calumet where they won the esteem of many more friends.

In recent months, Mrs Hansen had been suffering considerably and every possibly attempt was made to relieve her great burden, but to no avail until God in his wise providence called her to himself to a life of peace and rest through death on Wednesday, September 4, 1940, at 3 a.m. at the age of 63 years, 4 months and 24 days.

She was a loyal member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church of Calumet and the German Ladies Aid of that church.

Leaving to mourn her departure are her dear husband, Hans P. Hansen; 2 sons and 2 daughters, Herman of Paullina, Clara of Calumet, Roy of Paullina and Mrs. Clarence Riedemann (Anna) of Paullina; 1 grandson, Myron Dean Hansen, 2 brothers, J.H. Rehder of Calumet and Thomas Rehder of Otis, Colorado; 1 daughter-in-law, Mrs. Roy Hansen of Paullina; 1 son-in-law, Mr. Clarence Reidemann of Paullina; and a number of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 7 at 1:30 p.m. in the Hansen residence at Calumet and Hansen in Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, Rev. C.E. Gabler officiating. Interment was made in Prairie View cemetery of Paullina.
