Milo George Silverthorn, the eldest of the eight children born to I.M . and R. A . Silverthorn, was born at Geneva, Ashtabula county, Ohio, December 26th, 1847, and passed away after a three days attack of pneumonia in Leavenworth, Kansas, February 25th, 1922, at the age of seventy-five years, one month and twenty-nine days. When a small boy the family moved to Hardin county, Iowa , where he grew to manhood.
In July 1875 he was united in marriage with Biddie O'Connor. In 1876 they moved with his people to Hartley, Iowa , where he engaged in business for some years before they moved to Leavenworth, Kansas, which has since been his home. His wife passed away May 22, 1907 since which he has been alone.
He is survived by two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. A . H . Kingman of Des Moines, Iowa ; Frank Silverthorn of Willets, California; Mollie Silverthorn of Hartley, Iowa ; and John H . Silverthorn of Woodward, Iowa .
The remains were brought to Hartley by his sister, Mrs. A . H . Kingman, on Tuesday evening, and funeral services were held in the chapel in Hartley cemetery on Wednesday afternoon: The services were conducted by the Rev. A . J. Barkley, pastor of the Methodist church, who was assisted by a quartet composed of Mrs. B. R..Boldt, Mrs. Lew Putnam, C. M. Wilhelm and Wilbur Johnson.
