Exactly one year to the day following his induction into the Army, memorial services will be held for Pvt. Edward Krueger who was killed in action in Germany on February 16. The service will be held in Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church, Rev. B. H. Romanowski officiating, at 1.45 p.m. The order of service will be as follows: Advancing of Colors, Legion Invocation Special Music Scripture Lessons Prayer Remarks, Service Record, and Presentation of Flag by Legion. Special Music Benediction Taps Retreating of Colors

Pvt. Edward Clyde Krueger. the son of August and Dora (Mundt) Krueger, was born at Everly, Iowa on March 3, 1910. His father passed away in 1935.

Pvt. Krueger was married on November 19, 1937 to Lucille Pohlmann of Hartley, and three children were born to this union. In civilian life he was engaged in the farming and trucking businesses.

Edward Krueger was inducted into the United States Army on March 23, 1944, exactly one year ago, and received his training at Camp Roberts, California. In September of 1944 he was shipped overseas where he saw action as a machine gunner in the Third Army commanded by General George Patton. He saw action in France, Luxembourg, and Germany, and was killed in action on February 16, 1945 in Germany at the age of 34 years, 11 months and 13 days.

Those who survive his passing are his widow, Mrs. Lucille Krueger; his three children, Dean, Joan Kay and Gary Lee; his mother, Mrs. Dora Krueger of Hartley; four sisters, Minnie (Mrs. Frank Hauptly) of Wesley, Iowa, Dora (Mrs. Clarence Madsen) of Billings, Montana, Ann (Mrs. Basil Pickinpaugh) of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Ida (Mrs. Elmer Munster) of Hartley; 2 brothers, Harry of Hartley and Corporal Paul Krueger of Camp Carson, Colorado; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The Legion Post Commander asks that the Legion members meet at the Legion Hall one half hour prior to the beginning of the service, and wear your caps. The United Service Women are also asked to attend.
