Charley Peters was born on December 22, 1865 in Alsace, Lorraine. He was baptized when an infant. He came to America when 15 years of age and stayed with an aunt in Illinois for five years until he came to Paullina at the age of 20 years.

On August 11, 1902, he was married to Minnie Kiehl and to this union nine children were born. The lived in Paullina until 1917 when they moved to Ayreshire where they remained until 1933 when they moved to Hartley vicinity where they farmed until 1947 when they moved to their home in Hartley and where he passd away on November 11, 1949 at the age of 33 years, 10 months and 17 days.

He is survived by his widow, Minnie, and the nine children, Edward, Ernie, Fred, Robert and Mrs. Minnie Duis, all of Hartley vicinity; William and Harry of Laurens, Rosella Stone of Webb, and Herman of Lake parke, besides twenty grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.

Services were held Friday, November 11, 1949 at the Foley Funeral Home in Hartley. Rev. B.H. Romanowski of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church officiating. Music was furnished by a quartette consisting of Mrs. Francis Glackin, Mrs. Harrison Grotewohl, Wayne Muhs and W.R. Wagner.

Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley.
