Mysterious Disappearance

Andreas Orthmann, a German and bachelor about 65 years of age, has for some time mado his home with Julius Kreger, on section 23, south of town. Last evening at about 8 o'clock he looked at the clock and remarked it was about time to go to bed. He went out of the house, and, not returning in a reasonable time, search was at once instituted, but no trace could bo found of him. This morning a note was found in his room saying that he could do nothing more for Mr. Kreger, but giving no indication of what he intended doing. The supposition is that he has committed suicide, the only theory for this being his mysterious disappearance and the further fact that his brother in Hardin county shot himself a few years ago in a temporary fit of insanity.

Andreas Orthmann, of whom mention was last week made as mysteriously disappearing from his home, was found about 8:00 o'clock the next evening by John Hodgdon. He had been in a straw stack for nearly 24 hours and was completely chilled. When found be appeared rational enough, and his disappearance was caused by a peculiar freak of his or when temporarily insane.

Andreas Orthmann, tho man whom "The Times" mentioned some time ago as mysteriously disappearing from home and being found in a hay stack, died on Sunday morning. At the time of his disappearance it was thought he had shot himself, but when found he appeared all right, save a wound on the head which he said was caused by a cut on a wire fence. Subsequent investigation proved, however, that he had shot himself in the head and body, and one bullet was extracted a short time before he died, and it was from these wounds that he died.
