Fredericka (Beinke) Pries Muhs (1833-194

The deceased, Fredericka Muhs, nee Beinke, was born on February 6, 1833, in Scott County, Iowa. She was one of the 6 children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Beinke. Her early life was spent in the vicinity of her birth.

In 1885 she was united in marriage to Peter Pries. Three children were born to this union, 2 of her children have preceeded her in death. After some four years, her husband, Peter Pries passed away.

On June 13, 1891, she was united in marriage to Henry Muhs, in Scott County. Of this union 5 Children were born; 2 of her children (twins) preceeded her in death.

In 1892 the family moved to O'Brien county in Omega Township, on a farm. In March 1923 the family moved to the town of Hartley. In January 1932, Mr. Muhs, her husband, passed away. Since that time Mrs. Muhs has lived in her home here in Hartley, until the time of her illness last spring.

In July of 1933, Mrs. Muhs was baptized and confirmed into the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed Church of Hartley, and has since been a good and faithful member. She was also a member of our Ladies Aid Society.

On Wednesday morning, January 23th, following an illness of some nine months, Mrs. Muhs passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clarence BracKer, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 10 days.

She is survived by her four children, Mrs. Barney Pries Krieger of Winnepeg, Canada; Mrs. Ed Petersen, Louis Muhs. and Mrs. Clarence Bracker all of Hartley; 15;grandchildren. 6 great grandchildren, 3 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 1 brother-in-law, 2 sisters-in-law and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Mrs. Muhs could always be counted on when any one was in need of help in any way always saying a word of comfort to those in trouble. She will be missed by her friends and neighbors as well as by her children and their families.
Services were held Saturday afternoon, January 31st, at the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church with G. A. PahL pastor, officiating. Many lovely flowers were tributes of the love of relatives and friends. Pall bearers were nephews— Herbert Muhs, Julius Muhs, Chas. Muhs, Emil Muhs, Bill Muhs, Elmer Fuerbock, the latter of Walcott, Iowa. Interment was made in Pleasant View cemetery, Hartley. Sympathy is extended to the family.
