John Hinkey (1873-1932)

John Hinkey passed away Wednesday morning at ten o'clock following a short illness. He was born August 3, 1873 in Jackson county, Iowa at Tiddemore. He was the son of Henry Hinkey and Margaret nee Priest. In infancy he was baptized at Tiddemore, Ia.[sic] and confirmed at Center township Lutheran church.

Mr. Hinkey worked on the farm until about twenty years ago when he went to Austin, Minn, and was employed in the Fox hotel there until about a year ago when he returned to Hartley to make his home. Since last October he has made his home with his brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dietrich Hinkey. He has been a sufferer with rheumatism for a number of years. At the time of his passing he was 58 years, 8 months and 29 days of age.

Mr. Hinkey never married and is survived by one brother, Dietrich Hinkey, and five nephews: Willie Hinkey, Alfred Brown, Dick Brown, John Brown and Victor Brown; seven nieces, Kathryn Hinkey, Mae Klinker, Amelia Tjossem, Lasetta Stellish, Ida Brown, Alvea Brown and Luella Brown; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. D. Hinkey and Mrs. Zabena Hinkey.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Trinity Evangelical church with Rev. Budy officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View cemetery.
