Ebenezer Coffee was born March 4, 1838, near Herman N.Y., and departed this life August 8, 1915, in Ocheyedan, Iowa, his age being 77 years, 5 months and 4 days.

In 1863 the deceased married Miss Mary Lago of St. Lawrence county, N.Y. To this union were born six children, four girls and two boys. One boy and two girls died in the childhood. Those surviving their father are Mrs. Ida M. Gaskill of Sioux City; Mrs. Zoa Karakel, of Gaza, and Grant Coffee, of Ocheyedan.

In 1865 he came to Cedar county, this state, and six years later came to O'Brien county, where he lived until 1993, after which he moved to Webster county, Mo. Here he resided five years and then moved back to O'Brien county and lived with his son Grant until the spring of 1914, when with his son, he removed to Ocheyedan. Here he passed away on the 8th day of August.

He had been a great sufferer for many years and during the last year had been as helpless as a baby,; but was tenderly cared for by his son and wife.

Religiously Mr. Coffee was a member of the Friends' Church. He was interred in the Highland cemetery in Grant township, but the side of his wife, who preceded him some time. The funeral services were held at the home of his brother-in-law, Mr. Lago, near Gaza, and conducted by Rev. Thomas Andrew, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Primghar.

The floral tributes to the memory of our dear brother were many and quite a goodly number of the friends turned out to his funeral. Farewell, dear brother!
