Elmer A. Jacobson, 89, passed away Monday, April 15th, at 5:22 p.m. in the Country Side Estates following a lingering illness.

His home was in Larrabee, where he had lived since 1935. He was born February 19, 1896 in Sweden, coming to the United States in 1913. He was married to Christine Nielsen on December 29, 1919 at Paullina, Iowa. He had been Postmaster in Larrabee for 20 years, retiring in 1967. He was a member of the Larrabee United Methodist Church, was a veteran of World War I, serving with Sgt York in the 82nd Division, antf, was decorated with the Silver Star. He Was also a member of the World War I Barracks, the V.F.W., the Amercan Legion, the Larrabee Senior Citizens and the Retired Postmasters Association.

He is survived by his wife, Christine, three sons: Earl Jacobson, Larrabee, Norman Jacobson, Ketchikan, Alaska, and Harold Jacobson of Lincoln, Neb.; two daughters: Mrs. Hugo (Violet) Meyer, Holstein and Mrs. Mildred Miller of Montrose, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; three brothers: Sig Jacobson, Milwaukee, Wisc, Aim Jacobson, Sweden, and Otto Jacobson, Ruthven; and one sister: Mrs. Etty Larson of Sweden. He was preceded in death by one son, Dale and one sister.

Funeral services for Elmer A. Jacobson were held Thursday, April 18 at 10:30 a.m. from the Boothby Funeral Home. Rev. Leonard Rowse will officiate and burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery at Larrabee, Iowa. There was a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday.
