Bernadette "Bernie" Marie Mews Conley, 75, of rural Marcus, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2005 at 12:51 a.m. in the Cherokee Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 7th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Carolyn Hollar officiated and burial was in the Prairie View cemetery at Paullina, Iowa.

Bernie was born on November 6, 1929, at Granville, Iowa, to Louis & Leona (Peters) Schwebach. She was married to Marvin Mews in May of 1945 at Paullina, Iowa. She was later married to Fred Conley of rural Marcus, Iowa. She was a former member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, Iowa. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her friends in Round Lake, Minnesota.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Carolyn and a brother Donald. She is survived by her husband, Fred, nine children: Georgia Broderson, Roxy Pottebaum, Jim Conley, Marveen Sorenson, Dan Conley, Deb Paulsen, Barbara Conley, Mike Mews, Janelle Greer, 17 grandhildren, 5 great grandchildren, 5 sisters and 1 brother, Esther Rohrs of Paullina, Sally Plueger of LeMars, Delores Ashmore of Denver, CO., Lillian Koch of Ute, Iowa, Betty McConnell of Green, Illinois, Richard Schwebach of Sioux City, many nieces and nephews.
