Leona Schwebach, the daughter of Henry and Catherine Peters, was born June 27, 1906, near Granville, Sioux County, Iowa. She received her education at the Granville Public School.

On October 13, 1926, [sic]she was united in marriage to Louis Schwebach in Granville, Iowa. After their marriage, they made their home in Granville but lived most of their married life in Paullina. Louis preceded her in death on November 6, 1956 in Paullina.

Leona continued to make her home in Paullina and passed away on Saturday, April 20, 1985, at St. Luke's Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa, reaching the age of 78 years, 9 months and 23 days.

Leona was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Leona leaves to mourn her passing 6 daughters, Esther Rohrs of Paullina; Mrs. Robert (Sally) Plueger of LeMars; Mrs. Fred (Bernie) Conley of Marcus; Mrs. Delores Ashmore of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Mrs. Wilbur (Lillian) Kock of Ute; Mrs. Tim (Betty) McConnell of Carthage, Illinois; 2 sons, Donald Schwebach of Blandinsville, Illinois; Richard Schwebach of Le Mars; one stepson, Joseph Schwebach of Primghar; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Marie Staver of Le Mars; 26 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Martha Leas of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Susan Moos of Paullina; one brother, Johnnie Peters of Paullina; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; a daughter, Carol; her parents; a sister, Christine; and a stepdaughter, Helen.

Services for Leona Schwebach were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, 1985, at Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina, la., with Rev. Donald Johnson officiating. The pallbearers were Gary Plueger, Jim Plueger, Rick Schwebach, Mike Conley, Jim Rohrs, Tom Rohrs, David Rohrs and Jeff Kock. "How Great Thou Art" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were sung by Fred and Betty Schuknecht with Mrs. Verla Hibbing at the organ. The final resting place is Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa. The arrangements were under the care of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
