Martha Elizabeth, daughter of Henry and Margaret Rupp Reisser, was born March 14, 1882 near Blairstown, Iowa and passed away on August 22, 1951 at her home in Sanborn after a lingering illness. She had reached the age of 69 years, five months and nine days.

Martha spent her youth in Benton County, Iowa, graduating from the Blairstown high school, later attending Tilford Academy at Vinton, and Humbolt College at Humbolt, la., fitting herself for the teaching profession, which she followed for a number of years. She moved to Sanborn in 1902 and kept house for her brothers.

On February 6, 1912 she was united in marriage to Aaron David Shaw, of Archer. They resided there until 1918 when they moved back to Sanborn, where they have since made their home.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church and its Women's Society, giving of her time and services as long as her health permitted. She also took an active part in the Rebekah Lodge, Women's relief corps, and Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors are her husband, Dave Shaw; one sister, Mary (Mrs. John Blahauvietz) of Sanborn; two brothers, Arthur Reisser of McAllen Tex., and Otto Reisser of Ainsley, Nebr.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father and brothers and sisters. Wim. Reisser of Vinton and Christian, of Omaha, Nebr. Harry and Margaret (Mrs. John Britton) of Sanborn, Laura (Mrs. A.L. Vogelgesang), of Wamblee, S.D., and Edward, who passed away in infancy.

Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon in the Sanborn Funeral Home by Rev. G.F. Butler of Greene, Iowa, former Presbyterian pastor here.

Mr. and Mrs. John DcGooyer, Mrs. Inez Conkey and W. V. Oostenbrug sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs, E. W. Mayne was pianist. Casketbearers were Francis Hickcy, George Phinney, Harry Porth, Dick Zonnefeld, George Mayhak and Weldon Gallup. She was laid to rest in Roseland Cemetery.

D.; Mrs. Gilbert Deklotz. Newhall, la.; Mrs. Cora Wiley. Walker, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. Murray Winner and son and Mrs. Gertrude Winner, Vinton, la.; Mrs. Grace Sturtz. Waterloo, la.; Mrs. J A O'Brien and daughter. Council Bluffs, la.; Mrs. M M. Shaw, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shaw and Mrs. Beulah Burnoy, all of Cherokee; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Shaw, Aurelia; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Christcnson, Schaller; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bardo and Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Bardo, Estherville; and Mr and Mrs. Wm. Blahauvietz, of Harris.
