Peter Roorda, son of Dick and Bessie Roorda, was born in Ypsilanti, N.D. on July 19, 1907. He lived his youth, attended school and grew to young manhood in this vicinity. He was united in marriage to Marie Kuyper of Sanborn, Iowa on June 14, 1940, at Sanborn, Iowa. Their entire married life was lived in the Sanborn vicinity.

He entered the O'Brien County Care Facility in February of 1957 and lived there until the time of his death at the Hartley Community Hospital at Hartley, Iowa on October 20, 1975, at the age of 68 years, three months and one day.

He is survived by one daughter, Glenda (Mrs. Marvin Brenner) of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two granddaughters, Lynna and Kayla, and one grandson, Brian; two brothers, Abe of Jamestown, N.D. and John of Ypsilanti, N.D.; and two sisters, Ann Rohrbeck of Chula Vista, Calif, and Agnes (Mrs. John Solsma) of Hospers, la.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maris, on July 15, 1965; one son, Richard, in 1944; and two sisters.
