RAYMOND "RAY" BRANDTS 1910-1995

Raymond Brandts, son of John and Anna (Kuhl) Brandts was born on January 30. 1910 In Sioux Center. Iowa. He lived his youth In Sioux County. Iowa and attended rural schools In Sioux and O'Brien County. He was united in marriage to Gladys Kuyper of Sanborn. Iowa on November 24, 1938 in Sanborn. They lived In Sheldon, Iowa. Gladys passed away on August 13. 1984.

Ray was employed for John Buysman Trucking, the Sheldon Community School as a bus driver and the U.S. Post Office as a custodian, where he retired. He was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sheldon where he served as a former elder, deacon, custodian, audio technician, coach of the church softball team and was Involved In other church functions. Ray also enjoyed watching softball and basketball games.

He passed away on Saturday, March 11. 1995 at the Prairie View Home in Sanborn. Iowa at the age of 85 years. 1 month and 11 days.

Those left to cherish his memories are two daughters. Luann and her husband. Marv Donkersloot of Sheldon. Iowa and Karen Brandts of Birmingham. Alabama, one daughter-in-law, Colleen Wade, six grandchildren: eight great-grandchildren: one sister, Delia Tingay of Traverse City. Michigan: two sisters-ln-law. Stephana Brandts of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Elsie Kuyper of Sanborn. Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife. Gladys; two sons, Harlan and Marvin: and one brother, Charley Brandts.

Funeral services were held March 15, 1995, at the First Reformed Church of Sheldon. Iowa with Rev. Gary Rosenboom and Rev. James Boogerd officiating. "He Is Able" and "If You Could See Me Now" were sung by Dyan Sterk. The congregation sang "Saved By Grace" as a recessional. Mildred Blankers was organist. Casket bearers were Jay Donkersloot, Marlyn Donkersloot, Bruce Ver Meer, Gary Hogue. Jr., Nick Brandts and Ken Kuyper. Honorary casket bearers were Bill SInkey. Joe Erkes, Glen Blankers. Dwlght Blankers. Robert Wolf and Robert Pekelder. Burial was In East Lawn Cemetery, Sheldon. Iowa with Sheldon Funeral Home, Sheldon in charge
