Hattie Westphalen

Funeral services for Hattie Marie Westphalen, 90, Spencer, will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Reves. Miles Barrett and Robert McClintock will officiate, and burial will be in the Northlawn Cemetery.

The Sacred Heart Choir will sing and sister Cecilienne will play the organ. Leo LeCLair, Larry LaSourd, Lonnie LaSourd, Floyd Ramsey, Jerold Westphalen and Sam Tuttle will be the casket bearers.

Mrs. Westphalen died Tuesday in Spencer.

The daughter of Lewis and Rose [nee] Mayou [Mayhew] Goyette, she was born March 28, 1893, in Everly [sic]. She married John Westphalen in Spencer on Mar 2, 1934. They farmed near Moneta for several years and then moved to a farm near Spencer.

They retired in 1967 and moved to Spencer. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Survivors include her husband, John Westphalen, Spencer; one daughter, Mildred Brown, Iowa City, one sister, Buelah Leonard, Spencer; three grandchildren; six great=granchildren, and three half brothers, Clifford Metty, Florida, Fred Metty, Cherokee, and Arthur Mettie, Currie, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Milford Westphalen; and one sister, Abbie Morrow.

The Baumgarten Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
