Dorothea Rozeboom

Funeral services in memory of Dorothea Rozeboom were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 29, 1999, at First Reformed Church in Sanborn, Iowa. Rev. Dale Popma officiated. Casket bearers were Bud Vogelzang, Arnie Vande Vegte, Franklin Mett, Gordon Boscaljon, Rick Roghair and Dale Nagel. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley, Iowa. Sanborn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Dorothea (Zigtema) Rozeboom, the daughter of Henry and Jessie (Post) Zigtema, was born in Orange City, Iowa, on September 20, 1921. She lived her youth and received her education at Orange City. Dorothea was employed with Silent Sioux Corp. while living there.

She was united in marriage to James Rozeboom on February 28,1947, at Orange City. Following their marriage they farmed near Rock Rapids until moving to the Hartley area in 1969. James died in 1994.

Dorothea died on October 26, 1999, at the Spencer Municipal Hospital and with the help of the Lord who carried her over the rough spots of life, she lived to an age of 78 years 1 month 16 days. She will see you in the morning "over there".

Dorothy is survived by her sons: Larry of Primghar and David of Hartley; two brothers: Ray Zigtema of Whitehouse, Texas, and Walter Zigtema of Hawarden, Iowa; four sisters: Tena Vogelzang of Rock Valley, Iowa, Tillie Roghair of Lakewood, California, Sadie Roghair of Orange City, Iowa, and Harriet Roos of Harlan, Iowa; cherished nieces and nephews, her in-laws, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Barney and Sam.

Dorothea was a member of the First Reformed Church of Sanborn. Dorothea enjoyed writing letters, studying her Bible, and entertaining family and friends. She reached out in love to everyone, helping the elderly, shut-ins, or anyone to whom she-could be of assistance.
