Services in memory of Marie Sophia Albrecht were held Wednesday, November 3, 1999, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, Iowa. Rev. David Ericksen officiated at the 10:30 a.m. services. Casket bearers were Harlyn Hengeveld, Ron Lefever, Jerry Johnson, Allen Dacken, George Sleeper and Bill Treimer. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Hartley. Warner Funeral Home of Hartley was in charge of the arrangements.

Marie Sophia Albrecht, the daughter of John and Bertha Boettcher Pingel, was born July 5, 1914 in Rembrandt, Iowa. Her childhood years were spent in Rembrandt, where she received her education, graduating from high school in 1933. She was baptized on August 9, 1914 and confirmed on August 9, 1914, both at the Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake, Iowa. Following high school, she attended a nurse's training course at the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating in 1940.

Marie married Raymond Paul William Albrecht on October 20, 1940 at Zion Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa. Following their marriage, Raymond began his work in the ministry and they shared their lives in the communities of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Benson, Minnesota, White Rock, South Dakota, Stirum, North Dakota, Wolsey, South Dakota, Wakefield, Nebraska, Great Bend, North Dakota, Tyler, North Dakota, until moving to Hartley, Iowa in 1979.

She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hartley, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid and the LWML.

Mrs. Albrecht passed away at the Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley, Iowa on Saturday, October 30, 1999, at the age of 85.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Arthur and Les Pingel.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Rev. Raymond Albrecht of Hartley; one son, Paul Albrecht of Beavcrton, Oregon; three daughters: Margaret Rand of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Eileen and her husband, Arnold Rose of Marietta, Georgia, and Lois and her husband, Rev. Thomas Cole of Des Moines, Iowa: six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Waldo and Renata Pingel of Storm Lake, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Louise and Helen Pingel, both of Storm Lake; other relatives and friends.
