Services in memory of Ruth Tewes were held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, August 3, 1993, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Hartly. Rev. Leonard Root officiated. Casket bearers were Jerry Taylor, Charlie Taylor, Jerry Scharnberg, Ed Harders, Tom Tewes and Joel Tewes. Interment was in Pleasant View Cemetery of Hartley. Warner Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ruth Gertrude Tewes, the daughter of Ralph and Naoma Story Reeverts, was born on January 13, 1926, in Dickens, Iowa, and it was there she was raised and received her education.

On November 14, 1954, Ruth married Marvin Tewes in Nashua, Iowa and following their marraige they made their home in the Hartley area. While living in Hartley, she was a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ and the Dorcas Society.

Mrs. Tewes passed away at the Baum-Harmon Hospital in Primghar, Iowa on July 31, 1993, at the age of 67. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one niece.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Marvin of Hartley; one son and his wife, Bruce and Joyce Tewes, and their sons Allen and Adam, all of Hartley; one daughter and her husband, Peggy and Morris Stofferan, their sons, Shawn and Daniel, and their daughter, Sarah; one brother and his wife, George and Mary Kay Reeverts of Peoria, Illinois; one sister and her husband, Clarabelle and Dale Taylor of Stardon, Minnesota; as well as many nieces and nephews.
