Funeral services were conducted from Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church in Hartley on Sunday, February 7, 1954, for Mrs. Tillie Peters, who died on Thursday, February 4th, at the Reid Nursing Home.

Mrs. Tillie, nee Tewes, Peters, the daughter of John and Annie Tewes, was born on March 12, 1888, at Toronto, Clinton County, Iowa. In 1907 she moved with her parents from eastern Iowa to Hartley.

Tillie Tewes and Leonard Peters were united in the bonds of marriage on February 22, 1906, and to this union two children, were born: Hugo, at home, and Luverna, who died in infancy.

Mrs. Peters was a member of Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church, having been baptized and confirming her faith after moving from Clinton County. She was a lover of children, and was always willing to share what she had with others.

Tillie Peters was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard Peters, who was called from this earthly life in 1929; her infant daughter, Luverna; and one brother, Ernest Tewes.

Mrs. Tillie Peters had been in ailing health for a number of years, when she fell on August 7, 1953, suffering a broken hip. From August until the end of November she was cared for. in the Hand hospital, and since November at the Reid Nursing Home. All that human hands and loving care could provide was done for her.

Mrs. Peters was called from this earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, February 4,1954, at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 23 days.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Hugo Peters; one sister, Mrs. Emma Peters; one brother, John Tewes; many other relatives and a host of friends.

Rev. B. H. Romanowski of the Trinity Evangelical and Reformed church officiated at the services. Music was provided by Mrs. Harold Gonnerxnan at the organ, and a quartet composed of W. R. Wagner, Wayne Muhs, Mrs. Everett Selken and Mrs. Sieb Johnson, singing "I Need Thee Every Hour" and "Softly and Tenderly." Pallbearers were Harlan Tawes, Marvin Tewes, Mryle Paten, Earl Peters, Merle Vogt and Robert Sampson. Vera Olhausen, Mrs. Harry Stoterau and Mrs. Laura Stelck were in charge of floral arrangements. The Foley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
