Services held for G. Gladys Hodgdon

Funeral Services for G. Gladys Hodgdon were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 1997, at the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home in Paullina, Iowa, with Rev. Donald Freeman officiating. "How Great Thou Art" and "Abide with Me" were sung by Jack Grosvenor. The casket bearers were Clarence Schmith, Bob Oeffner, Lynford Pauling, Al Keyser, Don Dawson and Roger Bindner. Interment was at Prairie View Cemetery in Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.

Georgia Gladys Hodgdon, the daughter of Willis and Rhuea Emma Arnold Steen was born in Missouri Valley, Iowa. She received her education in the Schuyler, Nebraska, area. She received her teaching certificate and came to the Paullina area to teach school. She met E. Burdette Hodgdon while in Paullina and they were married on June 1, 1918. After their marriage, the couple settled on a farm southeast of Paullina where they farmed until 1952 when they moved into Paullina.

Her husband preceded her in death on April 1, 1970. Gladys remained in Paullina until moving to North Platte, Nebraska, to be near her sister. She returned to Paullina several years ago and for the last three years had been a resident of the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina. She passed away at Wide View on Sunday, January 5, 1997, reaching the age of 100 years, 6 months and 8 days.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Paullina.

Gladys is survived by nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers and sisters.
