Emil Eichner Died Suddenly in This City Friday

Another home was covered in sorrow when Emil Eichner died suddenly at the home of his parents in this city last Friday morning at a few minutes past eight o'clock. His father had called him for breakfast and he had arisen and had partly dressed. Failing to come down stairs, his father went up to his room and found him stretched across the bed in a partly unconscious condtion. He called his mother who in turn called Dr. Hand, but before he could reach the bedside, the young man had passed away.

The deceased had resided in this city for a greater part of his lifetime and had won friends on every side among the young and old alike, and his sudden dedath was received in all circles with sorrow.

The funeral services were held from the home Sunday last at two o'clock, being conducted by the Rev. Barkley. A male quartette furnished several selections. The attendance was very large, over 400 people of this and surrounding territory attending. The remains were laid at rest in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Emil P. Eichner, the youngest of the five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Claus Eichner, was born at Sutherland, Iowa, Decemebr 25, 1889 and died at the home of his parents in Hartley, Iowa, June 10, 1921 at the age of thirty-one years, five months and sexteen days.

When he was eight years of age the family moved to a farm southwest of Hartley, where they lived until 1906 when they moved to Hartley which has since been his home. He received his education in the public schools and for about twelve years worked in hardware stores and for the past three years has been a mechanic in a garage.

When he was about twelve years of age, he had a sever attack of appendicitis which with complications left him physically handicapped, but through all of his suffering he was very patient. He was kind, considerate and dutiful to his parents and loyal to his brothers and friends.

He is survived by his father and mother and three brothers, Julius T. Eichner of Luverne, Minnesota, Leonard C. Eichner of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and William C. Eichner of Sheldon, Iowa.
