Graveside services were held Wednesday. September 21,
2005 at 1:30 pm at the Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa. Pastor LeRoy Riemer officiated. The American Legion Post #152 from Sutherland were the casket bearers and also performed the military service. Interment was at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland, Iowa, where he is buried next to his parents. Arrangements made by Warner Funeral Home, Sutherland, Iowa.

Arlin Emil Hintz, the son of William and Lily Matzdorff Hintz, was born April 17, 1918 in Northwest Iowa. He was baptized by Pastor J D. Hesse on June 2, 1918 and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa by Pastor E.J. Otto on May 15, 1932. His childhood years were spent in Northwest Iowa, where he received his education and began his farming career.

He entered the military and served with the U S. Air Force during WWII, serving m the European Theater as a radio operator. Following his honorable discharge, he lived for many years in Clinton, Iowa, working as a high bridge painter and later at Clinton Corn Processing. Arlin enjoyed spending his time with his family, working on his cars and riding motorcycles.

Arlin passed away on Sunday, September 18, 2005 at the age of 87.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Marvin Hintz and two sisters, Thelma Hintz Willits and Evelyn Hintz Austin.

He is survived by one brother, Bill Hintz, Jr., and his wife, Mary of Bryson City, North Carolina, one sister, Adeline Hintz Malone of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and many nieces and nephews.
