ANDREW VAN ZYL

The death of Andrew Van Zyl, 20, which occurred last Friday in Oregon, was a shock to all in the community, who were fortunate in knowing the young man. Andrew Milton Van Zyl, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Van Zyl residing three miles south of Sanborn, was born February 1, 1916 at Melvin, Ia. During his short life he had lived with his parents on farms near Sheldon, Hospers and Archer.

For several years they have lived near Sanborn. Last spring Andrew went west and had been employed at Medford, Ore., where his brother, Ralph, had joined him about two months ago. A felon on his finger had bothered Andrew for some time and resulted in an infection which caused his death in the Sacred Heart Hospital, in Medford, Oregon, Friday, November 27, 1936.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Van Zyl, his brother, Ralph, of Medford, Oregon, and three sisters, Anna, Lillian and Ruth at home, and many relatives and friends who mourn the untimely passing of this promising young man.

The body was returned to Sanborn and arrived Wednesday morning accompanied by Ralph Van Zyl. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Maat of Archer, Thursday at 12:30 at the home and at 1:30 in the First Reformed Church at Sheldon. Burial will be made in the Sanborn cemetery.
