CHRISTIAN ALBERT

On Tuesday evening, May 9th, 1922, at 7 o'clock Christian Albert who had been in poor health for some time and had been confined to his bed for nine days, passed away at the age of eighty-two years, five months and twenty days.

He was born in Sipsdorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, November 19th, 1839. He grew to manhood in his native land and was united in marriage with Johannah Grieble in 1863. They made their home in Germany for five years and then moved to Davenport, Iowa, in 1868.

In 1888 they settled on a farm in O'Brien County, and within a month Mrs. Alberts passed from her earthly home.

For several years his daughters kept house for him. After their marriage he lived with his children until 1901 when his daughter, Mrs. Bertha Brown, came to make her home with him. In 1905 they moved to Hartley, Iowa, which has since been his home.

All of his children who are living and two of his grandchildren, Miss Vinetta Brown and Mrs. Thessa Sawyer were present at the time of his death. He is survived by eight of his nine children, the eighth, Amanda, having passed away when she was four years of age.

Those surviving him are Henry Albert, Primghar, Iowa; Hugo Albert, Scotland, South Dakota; William Albert, St. Paul, Minnesota; Herman and Otto Albert and Mrs. Bertha Brown, Hartley, Iowa; Mrs. Augusta Cooper and John Albert, Primghar, Iowa. He is also survived by one brother, Adolf Albert, Reinbeck, Ia; his other brother, Frederick Albert, preceded him in death February 20, 191S; and by four sisters, Mrs. Marie Brumm, Davenport, Iowa and three sisters who live in Germany; also by twenty-eight grandchildren and nine great grand children.

Funeral services were held at the M. E. church this afternoon and interment made in Pleasant View cemetery.
